96 team reunites for a political satire with Vijay Sethupathi

Vijay Sethupathi, who was last seen on screen in superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta (2019), has signed a new project which will see him join hands with most of the technicians from 96 (2018).

On the occasion of the 100 days celebration of 96, it was announced that Sethupathi’s next project with first-time filmmaker Delhi Prasad Deenadayalan has been titled Thuglak Durbar, and it will be a political satire. Prem Kumar, the director of 96, is penning the dialogues for the film while the composer Govinda Vasantha comes on board to score the film.

The project is being produced by Lalith Kumar of Seven Screen Studio, the Tamil Nadu distributor of 96. Talking about the film, Prasad told the newspaper Times of India: “I met Vijay Sethupathi sometime ago with this script. He really enjoyed the narration and agreed to do the film. It is a political subject, with elements of fantasy. He will play the role of a politician. It is an out-and-out mass subject, but a sensible film. The character has interesting shades. Sethupathi’s role will also have an element of fantasy woven into it.” He went on to add that the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised.

The director, who had assisted Prem Kumar and Seethakathi director Balaji Tharaneetharan, also confirmed that the shoot will commence from June and the entire project will be shot in and around Chennai.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi will complete shooting pending portion of Arun Kumar’s Sindhubaadh (2019) and will also wrap up his project with director Vijay Chander. The yet-untitled project with Chander will be produced by Vijaya Productions and Raashi Khanna has been signed as the leading lady.
