Lydian Nadhaswaram, a student of AR Rahman’s musical school KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, has won a million dollars for his piano performance in the American reality show called The World’s Best on CBS channel. Lydian’s mentor, obviously, is delighted by his achievement.

Rahman specially went to Lydian’s residence to congratulate him. His student welcomed him by performing a piano rendition. Rahman put up the video of his visit, from right before he reaches the home, on his official Twitter page.

The show has participants from more than 150 countries. The judges included Faith Hill, RuPaul Charles and Drew Barrymore, along with 50 others.

Speaking to the NDTV news channel about his achievement, Lydian said, “It was really good performing on a huge international platform. I practised a lot for the competition.” Rahman added, “I want him to become like the Lang Lang for India.”

The music maestro got emotional about his musical school after Lydian’s achievement. He shared a video of the institute on his official Facebook page and wrote, “A dream educational center for music that came true with the collective effort of so many people. It’s been over a decade since the emergence of KM Music Conservatory & the journey has been beyond beautiful. Thank you all for your love, may we continue creating magical things here!”
