Simmba review: Perfect mass entertainer driven by Ranveer Singh’s high-energy act

Simmba is co-produced by director Rohit Shetty, Dharma Productions and distributed by Reliance Entertainment. A remake of the Telugu film Temper (2015), Simmba is a revenge drama in which Singh plays the tainted cop Sangram Bhalerao who seeks revenge.

Ranveer Singh says he would have been jealous if Gully Boy had gone to another actor

“The collection is extraordinary. Normally, Christmas, year-end is a period for Aamir Khan films to shine. If a Simmba is making Rs21 crore nett on 31 December, then it is pretty impressive. Usually, there is a drop in the 31 December collections as people celebrate New Year’s Eve. In 2017, we had Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai that did well on 31 December [Rs21.75 crore nett according to Boxofficeindia.com] but that was a Sunday,” said trade analyst Mohan.

With no big release lined up in the first week of January, Simmba is likely to continue its good run.
