The Last Summer Trailer: K.J Apa Leads Netflix’s Teen Romance | Collider

Ah, those hazy summer days of teenage lust and angst. Netflix has debuted the first trailer for The Last Summer and it looks like a dreamy and dramatic romance packed with some teen stars that are sure to inspire more than a few Tumblr posts. Told through several intersecting stories, the film follows a group of recent high school grads, navigating the last summer before they take off for college — from leaving behind the loves of their youth, finding new friendships and relationships, and redefining themselves as they cross the threshold into adulthood.

It ooks like just the kind of film that could be a big hit for Netflix.  Last year, the streaming service helped revitalize the rom-com genre with their clever and wildly successful “Summer of Love” (which included hits like Set It Up and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,) and it looks like they’re banking on people feeling the heat once again. In addition to The Last Summer, Netflix also has The Perfect Date with To All the Boys breakout Noah Centineo, so make your Netflix and Chill dates now.

Directed by William Bindley from a script he co-wrote with Scott BindleyThe Last Summer stars K.J. Apa, Maia Mitchell, Jacob Latimore, Halston Sage, Sosie Bacon, Wolfgang Novogratz, Gabrielle Anwar, Ed Quinn, Jacob McCarthy, Mario Revolori, Gage Golightly, Norman Johnson, Jr., and Tyler Posey. The movie arrives on Netflix on May 3rd and you can get a peek in the trailer below, but if you want to watch something right now, be sure to check out our go-to guide for the best movies on Netflix.
