Producers up in arms against Kerala director Roshan Andrews

The Kerala Producers Association on Monday met state police chief Loknath Behra with a request to speed up the probe against popular Malayalam film director Roshan Andrews for allegedly roughing up producer Allwyn Antony.

Suresh Kumar, who led the delegation, told IANS that last week a group of people led by Roshan barged into Allwyn’s house near Kochi and thrashed him and others.

“They were looking for Allwyn’s son, who worked as Roshan’s assistant as there were some issues between them. But when they couldn’t find the son, they thrashed Allwyn and others. We have asked Behra to speed up the probe into the matter,” said Kumar.

Roshan, 44, shot to fame after the release of his first film as a full-time director in 2005. The film, Udayananu Tharam starring superstar Mohanlal, went on to become one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema.

Since then Roshan has emerged as one of the most sought after directors in the Malayalam film industry.

“We have also told the producers associated with Roshan to be careful,” Kumar said.

Roshan has also filed a complaint with the police, alleging that it was he who was roughed up by Allwyn and his friend.
