Majili, starring actors Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and his wife Samantha, which released last week amid very high expectations, has gone on to strike gold at the box office, emerging as the biggest opener for Chaitanya in his career so far.
At the ticket window, the film has managed to mint around Rs45 crore in its first week worldwide.
According to trade pundits, the film has already entered the profit zone and has emerged as a blockbuster. It is also said that Majili is the biggest hit for Chaitanya in recent years.
Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Majili features Chaitanya in the role of a failed cricketer who can’t get over his long lost first love. Therefore, his relationship with his wife – played by Samantha – gets deeply affected.

In its first week worldwide, Majili approximately ended with a share of Rs28.05 crore [nett amount that producer gets], which is the highest for Chaitanya in his career. The film collected around Rs3.3 crore from the overseas market and another Rs3.3 crore from Karnataka and the rest of India.
The film, which also features Divyansha Kaushik, Atul Kulkarni and Rao Ramesh among others, had music by Gopi Sunder and background score by Thaman.
Meanwhile, talks have already been initiated for the film’s Tamil remake. Apparently, the remake rights have already been sold and the casting process will begin in a couple of months.
Majili will have one more week of an uninterrupted run in Telugu states until the release of Nani-starrer Jersey next week.
