Director Rohit Shetty’s Simmba has proven that it is not just a one-week wonder. The film, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, earned an impressive Rs9.25 crore on its second Friday yesterday in India, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
The film scored big in the first weekend as it earned Rs75.25 crore. It kept the momentum going on the first Monday and got another jump on 1 January (a holiday for some) on Tuesday. The numbers expectedly fell in the next two days as they were working days, but the fall wasn’t substantial in any way.
Simmba review: Perfect mass entertainer driven by Ranveer Singh’s high-energy act
Also starring Sonu Sood and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles, Simmba had finished the first week on an impressive Rs150.50 crore. After adding its second Friday number, its grand total currently stands at a staggering Rs159.75 crore.
As per trade sources, the film is made at an estimated budget of Rs120-125 crore. The high budget shouldn’t be a problem now that the film has earned big and shall continue to do so today [Saturday] and on Sunday. The fact that not a single significant Hindi film has been released this week will help further Simmba’s business.
Next week will see the release of the much talked about Anupam Kher-starrer The Accidental Prime Minister.
