Deepika belongs to a Kachwaha Rajput Hindu family, having three sisters Neelam Raina, Rain Raina, Palvee Raina, and one brother Rakesh Raina.

She completed a degree in law from the National Law University in Jodhpur. After completing her law degree, Deepika practised as an advocate at the court of Jammu and Kashmir and gradually entered into the field of human rights. Since then, she has been fighting for human rights.
- In April 2018, Deepika appeared in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on behalf of an 8 years old girl Asifa Bano, who was gang-raped and then murdered in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua district in January 2018.
- She was the first person who filed a writ petition for Asifa’s case.
- According to Deepika, she has been facing prejudice, and threats from her fellow colleagues to fight for Asifa.
- Deepika received the Charkha fellowship and Ladli award for her work in the field of Juvenile Justice.
