No Fathers In Kashmir poster with broken smartphone quite appealing

The poster of director Ashvin Kumar’s No Fathers In Kashmir is out after the film received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) along with a U/A certificate a few days ago.

It was an eight-month long struggle for the makers after the CBFC decided to give an ‘A’ certificate to the film initially to which the makers didn’t agree. They took the film to the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) and after a couple of screenings over there it finally received a ‘U/A’ certificate after a few cuts and a disclaimer.

No Fathers In Kashmir stars Soni Razdan, Anshuman Jha and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

There are plenty of cases of men going missing in Kashmir after being picked up by the Indian armed forces for an alleged crime. In a lot of cases, they don’t return. As it is not known whether they are alive, their wives are called ‘half widows.’

The film traces the journey of two 16-year-olds who are in search of their missing fathers. The poster features them on the screen of a broken smart phone, which makes for an appealing picture.

The tagline ‘Everyone Thinks They Know Kashmir’ indicates how the actual situation in the Valley cannot be gauged without visiting the place.

No Fathers In Kashmir will be released on 5 April.
