Hanuma Vihari was born on 13 October 1993 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. When Vihari was only 9 years old, his father took him to the Gymkhana ground in Hyderabad to watch Ambati Rayudu bat. Since then, he made up his mind to play cricket. According to her mother, he left his home at a very young age to pursue his career in cricket. When he was 12 years old, he lost his father. He is also known as Kanna.

Vihari was born to Satyanarayana and Vijayalakshmi. He has one younger brother.
Career
When Vihari was only 16 years old, he made his debut in domestic cricket in 2009 for Hyderabad. In the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy, he made his first triple century, 302 against Odisha.
Vihari was a member of the India Under-19 cricket team that won the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Australia.
He played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 6th season of IPL in 2013. He remained the part of the team until 2015.
In August 2018, he was called up to the Indian Cricket Team squad for the last two test match against England. On 7 September 2018, he made his test debut against England. In his debut match, he scored 56 runs in the first inning.
