Actress Niharika Singh accuses Nawazuddin Siddiqui of harassment, actor denies claims

Former Miss India and actress Niharika Singh has accused actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui of harassing her while they were in a relationship. A journalist shared Singh’s story on Twitter on her behalf.

“One morning, when I was home and he had been shooting all night, Nowaz [Nawazuddin Siddiqui] sent me a text saying he was near my building. I invited him over and asked him to come and have breakfast with me. When I opened the door, he grabbed me. I tried to push him away but he wouldn’t let go. After a little coercion, I finally gave in. I wasn’t sure what to make of this relationship,” she said.

Singh also claimed that Siddiqui had some unusual views on marriage. “He told me it was his dream to have a Miss India or an actress wife, just like Paresh Rawal and Manoj Bajpayee. I found his little confession funny but endearing,” she said.

The actress added that she learnt of Siddiqui’s multiple affairs a couple of months after their relationship began. “In the next couple of months, I began to discover one lie after another. Nowaz had engaged multiple women, giving each one a different story; one of them even called me from his phone and started yelling at me. I also found out about a woman he’d married in Haldwani, whose family had sued him for making dowry demands. I told him to clean up his mess, be honest with himself and everyone around him; also that I did not want to see him again,” she said.

The actor’s spokesperson, however, has denied all allegations and claimed that Singh is seeking revenge as Siddiqui had mentioned their relationship in his autobiography. “Surprisingly, the actress herself admitted their relationship in the past. But seems like it wasn’t well received with the actress as she claimed that Nawaz revealed about their relationship in his autobiography without her knowledge. On the account of which Nawazuddin had even apologised publicly when he took to Twitter and expressed his apologies in October 2017,” the spokesperson said in an official statement.

The spokesperson has also questioned the timing of the accusation and further accused Singh of trying to gain publicity.

“Interestingly, it is not about the #MeToo campaign, rather it is about their relationship which wasn’t destined ever. Wonder, why Niharika Singh is now accusing the actor who is at its peak of the career knowingly? It is not a lesser known fact that prior to this relationship, she gained publicity out of her troubled relationship and broken engagement with Mayank Singh Singvi [sic],” added the spokesperson.

In the Twitter post, Singh has also accused Bhushan Kumar, the head of T-Series, of making advances towards her. She said that she received a token amount envelope from him after she signed A New Love Ishtory (2013) after which Bhushan allegedly sent her a text.

“I got a text from him later that night — ‘I would love to know you more. Let’s get together sometime.’ I wrote back saying- ‘Absolutely! Lets go on a double date. You bring your wife. I’ll bring my boyfriend.’ He never wrote to me again,” she said.
