The pre-release buzz for Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta-starrer Bhaiaji Superhit was low. The Neerraj Pathak film made Rs1 crore on its opening day, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
Also starring Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Ameesha Patel, the film is made at an estimated cost of over Rs40 crore. So, even if the film gets a good jump during the weekend, it still doesn’t stand much of a chance of reaching the cost of production.
Bhaiaji Superhit has been in the making since seven years. The film also went through some financial controversies this year after producer Fauzia Arshi was replaced by Chirag Dhariwal.
From the last week’s releases, Pihu made Rs5 lakh, while the earnings of Mohalla Assi, which also stars Deol in the lead, was too low to report.
The much hyped Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan-starrer Thugs Of Hindostan made only Rs20-25 lakh on its third Friday yesterday.
Meanwhile, Badhaai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra, made a decent Rs90 lakh to Rs1 crore on its sixth Friday.
