On 27 April 2018, Tripura CM Biplap Deb made a comment on her skin color. He said that Diana Hayden winning Miss World 1997 title was a joke. He compared Diana Hayden to Aishwarya Rai and said Aishwarya Rai is the real beauty but Diana Hayden is not.
