Debutant director Shelly Chopra Dhar’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga collected approximately Rs3 crore at the box office on its opening day (1 February), according to figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.
The publication also mentioned that the film managed to earn largely in metros because of its subject — a lesbian love story. Of the Rs3 crore, Mumbai has contributed Rs85 lakh.

According to trade sources, the budget of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is around Rs30 crore. It is vital for the film to take a good jump in collections today and tomorrow. While the film has received positive reviews and word-of-mouth, it remains to be seen if it can collect a better amount over the weekend.
Hollywood film Escape Room, which was released in India on the same day, collected a meagre Rs30 lakh.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi collected Rs2.75 crore yesterday, its second Friday. It’s a huge fall from its opening day collection which was Rs7.75 crore. The film’s total now stands at Rs59.60 crore. However, with a budget of around Rs120 crore, this queen is staring at a defeat at the box office.
