Lyricist Irshad Kamil will be among the speakers at the Kavya Mudra festival in Ahmedabad.
In its eighth season currently, the three-day festival will see Irshad Kamil speak about his own journey in the Hindi film industry, and the evolution of lyrics and poetry in cinema.
Set up to honour the Gujarati poet Mareez, the three-day festival will be held from 15-17 February this year.
The first day will see the organizers present an award to Gujarati poets and litterateurs like professor Niranjan Bhagat, Dhiruben Patel, Rajendra Shukla and Chandrakant Sheth.
The second award, started last year, will see young and upcoming poets in Gujarati literature felicitated for their skill and literature.
The first day will also see poets Chirag Tripathi and Milind Gadhavi discuss the works of lyricists Javed Akhtar and Gulzar, and their lyrical contribution in Hindi cinema. Gulzar was among the special guests invited to the festival last year.
Irshad Kamil is expected to perform with his band, The Ink Band, at the festival. The performance will see the poet join five members of his band with violin, keyboard, percussion and a singer to bring the combination of his songs and poetry to the audience.
Parth Brahmbhatt, among the organizers of the festival, told Cinestaan.com that the festival seeks to bring both poetry and its contribution to Hindi cinema to the fore.
