Basu Paribaar is Sudipta Chakraborty’s dream project

For Sudipta Chakraborty, Suman Ghosh’s upcoming film Basu Paribaar has been a dream-come-true project.

In the film, the actress will be seen with legendary artistes Aparna Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee.

The film also features Rituparna Sengupta, Jisshu Sengupta, Kaushik Sen, Saswata Chatterjee, Paran Bandopadhyay and Sreenanda Shankar.

“I used to dream of working with senior artistes such as Aparna Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee. Now the dream has come true and I am thankful to Suman for that,” said the National award-winning actress, who also featured in Ghosh’s Nobel Chor (2012).

According to Chakraborty, there is a lot to imbibe from the veterans on the sets. “To share screen space with them and be able to interact with them on screen and off is a big takeaway in itself,” she said.

“I have enjoyed enacting my character. It is a very sweet character,” she continued. “When an actor is cast opposite Babanda [Kaushik Sen], it automatically turns into an enriching experience as he complements his co-stars so well that the entire experience becomes quite comfortable and smooth.”

Chakraborty said working with such a large ensemble cast allowed them to have a lot of fun on the sets and she used to be present even when she was not shooting. “I did not miss a single shot and we would all discuss each other’s performances throughout the process,” she said, echoing what Aparna Sen had said earlier in her interview about the camaraderie on the sets.

Chakraborty also stated that Sreenanda Shankar, being the youngest in the cast, would often get nervous before her shoot and seek inputs from her.

“While the editing of the film was going on, Suman passed me a compliment while joking,” she said. “The compliment makes me feel I have done justice to my character. I think there is no bigger reward than that.”

Basu Paribaar is slated for release on 5 April.
