It looks like Marvel is tapping into the Indian market for its products. The studio has now roped in Sarkar (2018) director AR Murugadoss to write the dialogues and script for the Tamil version of the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. The film will be released in India on 26 April 2019.
The 2018 prequel Avengers: Infinity War earned a record Rs227 crore in India, and seems to have caught the attention of the studio to this existing market. The earlier film also had Rana Daggubati voicing the character of Thanos, played by Josh Brolin in the original. Marvel’s last film, Deadpool 2 (2018) saw Ranveer Singh voice the character of Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool.
The Indian Express quoted Murugadoss saying, “I have always admired the story, spectacle and scale that Marvel brings to its movies, and Avengers: Endgame is going to be one such powerhouse of a film that has the whole country excited. As a writer and a filmmaker and now a fan — thanks to my son Aaditya, I am thrilled to be a part of this phenomenon which brings together a galaxy of powerful characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and more.
The report also stated Murugadoss saying that he has tried to include “an interesting local flavour” to the film’s dialogues “without compromising on the original idea”.
