Actor Sachin Khedekar dubbed for Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the Marathi version of Thackeray, which is a biopic on the life of the Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. According to recent reports, the voice for Siddiqui will be re-dubbed by someone else as the audience felt Khedekar’s voice didn’t suit the baritone of politician and cartoonist Thackeray.
Now, a source close to the production of the film has confirmed to us that Khedekar’s voice will indeed be replaced. “Yes, efforts are on currently to re-dub the voice of the main character,” said the source.
The trailer of the Marathi version of Thackeray was released last week soon after the Hindi version. Although the netizens gave a thumbs up to the trailer, there were numerous concerns raised on social media over the voiceover of Thackeray, which people felt didn’t sound like that of the late politician. The comments demanding re-dub of the character kept on increasing in the following days.
It seems that the makers of Thackeray have taken note of the demands put forth by the audience.
Although it is not confirmed as to who will dub for Siddiqui, there have been reports that dubbing artiste Chetan Shashital could be finalised.
Directed by Abhijit Panse, Thackeray will be released on 25 January.
Below are some of the reactions on Twitter to the voice in the Marathi version:
“Arre bheekh maangne se accha hai, gunda banke apna haq cheenna”
Looking for Nawaz performance mainly, even though his voice as Balasaheb didn’t really work in trailer.. After ‘Sanju’ not in mood for biopics knowing what we get! #Thackerayhttps://t.co/fZsYIRu4ev

All the good justice nawazuddin did to this role, but as a keen follower of Thackrey family I feel somewhere that voice of Bal Thackrey is missing in the movie. That voice by which I used to get goosebumps, yes!! https://t.co/rJnz1vUDQV

The movie may help @ShivSena a little bit to recapture the fearless, charismatic image which Balasaheb Thackeray had created with his own blood, sweat & tears. @Nawazuddin_S has done a par excellence acting as he always does but nothing can match Balasaheb’s distinct voice. https://t.co/ugpEaR0Ycj
