Paresh is reared in Mumbai (Maharashtra) and completed his schooling from the ‘Maharashtra SSC Board’ and Graduation from the ‘Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics‘ (Mumbai) in March 1974.

He gave Bollywood super hit movies like ‘Sir’ (1993), ‘Raja’ (1995), ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000), ‘Aankhen’ (2002), ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ (2002), ‘Hungama’ (2003) and many others.

Career

After his study in 1974, Paresh started doing Gujarati Theaters and acted in the Gujarati plays like ‘Dear Father‘ which won a lot of acclamation from the audience

Afterward, he decided to enter into the Indian entertainment industry and made his acting debut with the movie ‘Holi‘ in 1984. Then, he performed as a supporting actor in the movie ‘Arjun’ in 1985. But he came into limelight with the blockbuster movie ‘Naam’ in 1986. In 1993, his lead role of freedom fighter Vallabhbhai Patel in the movie ‘Sardar’ brought him national and international acclaim.

Paresh Rawal Debut Movie ‘Holi’ (1984)

During the 1980s and 1990s, he appeared as the main villain, in the movies like ‘Kabzaa,’ ‘King Uncle,’ ‘Ram Lakhan,’ ‘Daud,’ ‘Baazi,’ ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ and many others. He performed a double role in the movie ‘Andaz Apna Apna.’

In 2000, he became a superstar after the release of the movie ‘Hera Pheri’ in which he acted as a kind-hearted and dim-witted Marathi landlord Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. Due to his exceptional comedy talent and humorous dramatic flow of the story, this movie proved superhit at the box office. He also won the ‘Filmfare Best Comedian Award’ for this film. After this, eminent directors began to hire him as a lead actor or main protagonist in their movies.

In 2002, he played the lead role as one of three blind bank robbers in the hit film ‘Aankhen.’ During this time, he appeared as a comedy star in the movies such as ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ (2002), ‘Hulchal’ (2004), ‘Garam Masala’ (2005), ‘Golmaal’ (2006), ‘Chup Chup Ke’ (2006), ‘Bhagam Bhag’ (2007), ‘Shankar Dada MBBS’ (2004), ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘Welcome’ (2007), ‘Mere Baap Pehle Aap’ (2008), and ‘De Dana Dan’ (2009).

Apart from Bollywood, Paresh also worked in Tollywood and established an exceptional position especially in a villain role in the Telugu movies like ‘Kshana Kshanam’ (1991), ‘Money’ (1993), ‘Govinda Govinda’ (1993), ‘Money Money’ (1995), ‘Rikshavodu’ (1995), ‘Bavagaru Bagunnara’ (1998), ‘Teenmaar’ (2011) and many others.

In 1984, he made his debut on the small screen with the serial ‘Bante Bighadte‘ aired on Doordarshan.

Apart from an actor, Paresh is also a talented producer who produced the hit daily serials like ‘Teen Bahuraaniyaan’ airs on Zee TV, ‘Main Aisi Kyunn Hoon’ broadcasts on Sahara One and ‘Laagi Tujhse Lagan’ telecasted on Colors channel.

In 2012, he produced his first movie ‘Oh My God,‘ which gained a lot of acclamation from the audience. His second production venture is a biopic of ‘Narendra Modi.’

In ‘Sanju‘ the biopic of Sanjay Dutt, he is playing the role of Sanjay’s father Sunil Dutt. In 2014, he became the Member of Parliament (MP) from Ahmedabad East zone. In the same year, he was honored with the ‘Padma Shri’ award for his great contributions to the film industry.

Controversy

On May 21, 2017, Paresh Rawal was accused of advocating violence against women when he posted a tweet on the twitter- “Instead of tying stone pelter on the army jeep tie Arundhati Roy!” Arundhati Roy is a famous author who was alleging the Indian soldiers as they tied a Kashmiri to their jeep and used him as a human shield. But, it was assumed that Rawal wanted Roy to be used as a human shield.
